Personal and professional papers of Staige D. Blackford include typescripts and clippings of articles for the Norfolk-Virginian Pilot, topical files from newspaper work, diaries, personal correspondence files, and printed miscellaney. The collection also contains correspondence of his parents Staige and Lydia Blackford, particularly during Dr. Blackford's service with the 8th Evacuation Hospital during World War II. Of interest is a letter from Stringfellow Barr, 1953 January 19, concerning a student petition to remove him from the faculty, his latest book, and the animosity of David McCord Wright.
